Family Eldercare's Lifetime Connections Without Walls program (LCWW) offers socialization, brain fitness activities and educational presentations to homebound older adults who are socially or physically isolated in the community. Older adults join in from their homes using their telephone and dialing a toll free phone number and an access code. Older adults also have the opportunity to have a volunteer facilitator connect them to the group call. Participants join in from all over the state of Texas and other states in the U.S and also our neighboring country Canada. Our oldest participant is 97 years old and youngest is 50 years old. Volunteers can join in from home or work or come to our office to facilitate the call.

Do you know of a client, family member, neighbor who is physically or socially isolated and lonely at home? Help spread the word about the program.

Interactive Tour

Designed for adults with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, during this program participants discuss artists, themes, and exhibitions and use artworks to connect to past experiences. Call 817.989.5030 or email visitors@cartermuseum.org to receive helpful instructions and parking information. No reservations are required.

There is a designated barrier-free entrance near accessible parking for vehicles displaying the appropriate disability permits on Lancaster Avenue (the museum’s south side). If these spaces are full, you may drop participants off at the museum’s Lancaster entrance and park personal vehicles and minibuses for free in the museum’s lot located off of Camp Bowie Boulevard on the museum’s east side.

It doesn't matter if the loved one is currently living at their home or living with the caregiver or living in a facility, it is very likely that caregiver could use some support

from others who are experiencing the same challenges. At this meeting we will:

Share experiences with other caregivers.

Learn ways to cope with long term care giving.

Learn about the disease and common symptoms

Re-focus on your own health and well being.

Make new friends who understand and help

The Hurst Senior Center is open to adults age 55 and older. Membership is required in order to participate in our activities and classes and to use the Fitness Center. Annual membership is $20 for City of Hurst residents and $80 for non-residents. Day passes are also available, $5 per day for City of Hurst residents and $10 per day for non-residents. The only exception to our membership and day pass requirement is our monthly dances which are open to the public (age 55+) Dances are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and feature a live band and light refreshments. Dances begin at 7 pm and end at 9:15 pm. Cost is $5 at the door.
