Antoinette Griffin


President and Founder

Antoinette has always had a passion for seniors and for writing. In 1999, she and her husband, John developed the concept of connecting seniors and adult children with local resources through publications and on-line communications. Antoinette has lived in Austin most of her life, and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Management. She worked for 13 years in customer service in both the public sector and in healthcare. In addition to her work with the guides and website, Antoinette leads two networking groups in Austin and one group in San Antonio for those in the senior and healthcare industry. She served on the board of Austin Groups for the Elderly from 2004 to 2010 and was president of the board from 2008-2010. Antoinette is presently serving on the advisory committee for the Austin Mayor’s Task Force on Aging.  Both Antoinette and John were selected as presenters at the 2012 American Society on Aging Conference in Washington, DC.     Antoinette is a certified speaker and trainer with the John Maxwell Team, and trains individuals and teams on how to reach their highest potential.   Antoinette’s passions are journaling, travel and public speaking.

Chief Encouragement Officer and Founder

Since its inception in 1999, John has been an advocate for seniors along with his wife, Antoinette, educating local businesses on how to improve their business practices to meet the increasing needs of seniors and their families. John is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Leadership and Organization Management from Concordia University. John has 18 years experience working in engineering, supply chain management and marketing while working for IBM and Dell. In addition to publishing the Seniors’ Guides, John serves as the Chair of the board of directors for Helping the Aging, Needy, and Disabled, Inc. John is also a professional speaker, trainer, and coach.  Antoinette and John were selected as presenters at the 2012 American Society on Aging Conference in Washington, DC.  He and Antoinette are active members at Austin Christian Fellowship.

Amy graduated from Texas Tech University with an advertising degree and minor in marketing.  It was during her college years that she realized her passion was not writing for the college paper, but rather on the sales side.  Amy is a people person and loves the challenge of landing the appointment, building rapport and developing long-lasting relationships with her customers. Following graduation, Amy spent ten years honing her skills and advancing from a rookie rep to a national account executive in direct mail advertising.  After raising two daughters, she has returned to advertising and marketing with Texas Seniors’ Guides. She has enjoyed meeting many outstanding colleagues and professionals in the senior and healthcare industry. In Amy’s spare time, she enjoys running, playing tennis and hanging out with her amazing family.

Sam Escamilla


Associate Publisher, San Antonio

Being an alumnus from the University of North Texas, Sam’s academic foundation is in English Literature. He is in the process of completing a novel, and has aspirations to become an established author. Sam’s professional background is focused on publishing and advertising sales. For many years he traveled the country mentoring and teaching effective sales techniques. Sam believes that the sales process is an art form that is both highly rewarding and stimulating. Sam currently resides in northwest San Antonio with his cat, Shiva, as his companion. Sam moved to San Antonio a few years ago to be closer to his family, which is extremely important to him. In addition to writing, Sam’s other interests include music composition, fishing, travel and philosophy.

Administrative Assistant

Anita is a graduate of Texas Christian University with a degree in fashion merchandising and marketing.  Previously, Anita taught music and movement to pre-school children. She used to impress her daughter by singing a song using any word given to her. Her favorite aspects of working with Texas Seniors’ Guides are the people on the team, talking with seniors and adult children daily, and gaining new information from the articles submitted for the guides and website. In her spare time, Anita is a booster club parent to her teenager’s many activities and enjoys working in the yard, and playing with her dogs. Anita is also a baker who loves creating wedding and specialty cakes.

Dudley

Dudley


Security Officer

Dudley has worked with Texas Seniors’ Guides since its inception. His previous experience in security includes guarding his own residence and chasing mail carriers off of the premises. Dudley is a 15 year old Pomeranian who daily patrols the property and alerts staff whenever visitors, mail and packages arrive. His writings and speaking topics include: “The Pro’s and Con’s of Anesthesia during Teeth Cleaning” and “The Benefits of Acupuncture”. One of his lifetime achievements was being the subject of a school science experiment in which he learned to shake hands. In his spare time (and sometimes even on the job) Dudley enjoys napping and eating. His passions are biscuits, ice cream and long walks.
